MAGNIFICATION

What 10^100 zoom really means

A label such as 10100 is a finite scale ratio. It does not mean the Mandelbrot set has a physical size in meters. At that depth, the coordinate itself may need more than a hundred meaningful decimal digits just to distinguish nearby pixels.

HOW IT STAYS FAST

The modern deep-zoom toolbox

Arbitrary precisionStores reference coordinates with as many digits as needed.
PerturbationReuses one expensive high-precision reference orbit for nearby pixels.
Series approximationSkips blocks of perturbation work algebraically.
RebasingSwitches reference behavior when deltas become numerically unsafe.
Glitch detectionFinds pixels where approximation error breaks the image.
GPU parallelismProcesses huge groups of orbit calculations at once where precision permits.
